An understanding of the basic notions of physics and chemistry is desirable
Obiettivi formativi:
Educational goals:

The course aims to provide psychology students with basic knowledge of the human nervous system, as well as the anatomy and physiology of the nervous and endocrinal systems. It is vital to appreciate the basic biological structures of the nervous system in order to understand the cognitive processes involved in learning, attention, language, memory, and mental disorders studied by clinical psychology. Also leading to complex phenomena such as interaction between individuals as studied in social psychology
Contenuto del corso:
Course contents:

The following topics will be discussed: neuro -anatomical basis in behaviour: the cells of the nervous system. The central and peripheral nervous system. The nervous impulse, synaptic transmissions and neural circuits: the potential of the membrane at rest. The potential of action. Synaptic transmissions. The structure of the nervous system: neurotransmitters. The elaboration of sensory and motorial information: basic anatomy of sensory and motor organs
