L'invenzione del perturbante
Il corso affronta il nuovo modello di corpo perturbante emerso nella modernità e la sua relazione con forme d’arte e di spettacolo pre-cinematiche (mesmerismo, fantasmagoria, ecc.). I testi oggetto del corso verranno analizzati in rapporto alla cultura visiva e medica del tempo, in un’ottica interdisciplinare che colleghi gli aspetti specifici dell’ambito inglese con le contemporanee esperienze europee.
"The Invention of the Uncanny" An examination of the emerging model of the "uncanny" body in mdernity and its relation to the forms fo pre-cinematic art and spectacle (Mesmerism, phantasmagoriea, etc.). Texts adopted for the course are examined in relation to the visual and medical culture of the period, favouring an interdisiplinary approach that connect features of the specifically English environment with European experiences of the time. |

The indicated bibliography is meant to be a tool to the understanding and interpretation of the texts and the themes discussed during the course. Non-attenders: the exam will be on the analysis and commentary of the primary and critical texts indicated in the bibliography. |
