Contenuto del corso:
Course contents:		 Il corso si propone di indagare la "Poesia Metafisica" come fenomeno centrale dell'immaginario e della cultura del Seicento Inglese. Si esaminerą inoltre la rivalutazione modernista della "Poesia Metafisica" nei testi poetici e critici di T.S. Eliot. A tal fine si condurrą uno studio delle implicazioni filosofiche, teologiche, estetiche, nonchč della peculiaritą figurale e retorica di opere di John Donne e George Herbert, e Richard Crashaw.
The couse aims to investigate "Metaphysical Poetry" as a key phenomenon of the imaginary of Seventheenth-Century English Culture, as well as its revaluation in Modernist culture, with specific reference to T.S. Eliot's critical and poetical works. For this purpose the philosophical, theological, aesthetic implications of these texts will be explored, as well as the figurative and rhetorical characteristics of the works of: John Donne, Geroge Herbert, Richard Crashaw.
