Educational goals:		 Conoscere la storia della cultura letteraria tedesca dopo il '45 alla luce di uno dei massimi esponenti della narrativa del Novecento: Günter Grass.
To understand German literary culture after 1945, in the light of one of the main exponents of twentieth century narrative: Günter Grass.
Contenuto del corso:
Course contents:		 Dopo aver inquadrato la vita dell'autore e aver compiuto un excursus sulle caratteristiche della sua produzione letteraria, che spazia dal romanzo alla novella, dal saggio politico alla poesia, si lavora in particolare su due opere: "Im Krebsgang" (2001), che a distanza di quasi mezzo secolo dalla "Blechtrommel" (1959) lo ha riaffermato dopo la caduta del Muro di Berlino, e l'autobiografia, "Beim Häuten der Zwiebel" (2006), che invece lo ha visto al centro di una tempesta mediatica a causa della sua ammissione di essersi arruolato nella Waffen SS all'età di 17 anni. Si discute uno dei grandi temi tedeschi del Dopoguerra, la questione della colpa, che permette di distinguere tra i principali responsabili della tragedia del nazismo e colori i quali, come lascia capire Grass, si sono trovati travolti dalla Storia.
Having put the author's life into perspective and made a digression on the characteristics of his literary production, ranging from the novel to the short story, from the political essay to poetry, two works in particular are studied in depth: "Im Krebsgang" (2001), which, almost half a century after "Blechtrommel" (1959), reasserted him after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the autobiography, "Beim Häuten der Zwiebel" (2006) which placed him in the centre of a storm with the media as a result of his admission that he had enrolled in the Waffen SS at the age of 17. A discussion will be held on an important German post-war theme which is the question of guilt, enabling a distinction to be made between the people mainly responsible for the tragedy of Nazism and those, as Grass leads us to understand, who found themselves overwhelmed by historical events.

Other information:		 La Prof. Ulrike Zeuch, Visiting Professor nel quadro degli scambi Erasmus nel mese di ottobre, tiene 3 ore di corso in lingua tedesca all'interno delle attività del corso di specialistica. Gli studenti Erasmus frequentanti o interessati a sostenere l'esame sono pregati di contattare la docente nelle ore di ricevimento per concordare il programma. Anche gli studenti non frequentanti sono invitati a incontrare la docente durante le ore di ricevimento per una consulenza relativa alla preparazione all'esame. Tutti i materiali possono essere ordinati presso la libreria CELSB di Via Pignolo (BG) o tramite altre librerie (anche per mezzo di motori di ricerca on-line)
Within the framework of the Erasmus exchange programme, Prof. Ulrike Zeuch, Visiting Professor, will hold a 3-hour course in German as part of the activities of the postgraduate course. Attending Erasmus students or those interested in sitting the exam are kindly asked to contact the lecturer during visiting hours to agree on the programme. Non-attending students are also asked to meet the lecturer during visiting hours in order to agree on the preparation for the exam. All the materials may be ordered from the CELSB bookshop in Via Pignolo (BG) or through other bookshops (or through search engines on-line).
