This module is meant a. to provide tools of critical, cultural and literary analysis , along with notions of critical theory
b. to teach ways of reading cultural and literary texts.

Durante il corso verranno discusse:
a. le caratteristiche della cultura rinascimentale inglese rilevanti per la trasformazione dell'esperienza del tempo e della morte in Inghilterra e in Europa
b. alcuni sonetti shakespeariani significativi per la rilevanza dei temi del tempo e della morte di cui al punto a. La discussione si svilupperà a partire da una lettura analitica dei sonetti prescelti.
a. Features of Early Modern English culture which are taken to be relevant to the transformation of the experience of time and of death both in England and in Europe at large, then and now.
b. a selection of Shakespeare's sonnets where the above issues of time and death are prominent. The discussion will be based on close readings.
