Obiettivi formativi:

Il corso è dedicato al tema "Testimoniare la Shoah e scrivere dopo Auschwitz" e i suoi obiettivi formativi sono i seguenti:
a) fornire un quadro d'orientamento nel dibattito culturale tedesco relativo alle possibili forme di rappresentazione della Shoah attraverso la scrittura, il cinema e i mezzi di comunicazione in genere.
b) mettere gli studenti in grado di indagare le strategie comunicative praticate durante il secondo Novecento dai testimoni diretti e indiretti della persecuzione ebraica nell'atto della testimonianza e dell'estetizzazione della Shoah.
The course is dedicateto to the topic "Witnessing the Shoah and writing after Auschwitz" and its educational goals are:
a) to provide a theoretical and orientative framework of German cultural debate on the possible forms of aesthetical representation of the Shoah in literature, film and in the media.
b) to make it possible for students to investigate the communication stategies practiced during the second half of the XXth century by direct and indirect testimonies of the persecution of Jews in order to witness and aesthetize the Shoah.

Il corso ripercorrerà il dibattito concernente la questione della "colpa" della Germania per i crimini perpertrati dal nazismo contro la popolazione ebraica durante gli anni del III Reich, ponendo a nucelo della discussione le teorie di Th. W. Adorno sulla "barbarie" della poesia dopo Auschwitz e di Hannah Arendt sulla "banalità del male". Questa prospettiva metodologica sarà integrata dall'analisi retorica e contenutistica, da un lato, delle opere di Jean Améry e, dall'altro, dei collage della memoria di Walter Kempowski.
The course will face the debate concerning german "guilt" for the crimes against the Jews perpetrated by the nazis during WWII. This will be possible by relaying on Th. W. Adorno's medations on the "barbarism" of poetry after Auschwitz and Hannah Arendt's theory of "banalitity of evil". This methodological persepctive will be integrated by the rhetoric and contenutistic analysis of Jean Améry's work and Walter Kempowski's memory montages.
