"Il romanzo di fronte all'America": il corso si concentrerà sulla narrativa statunitense nella prima metà dell'Ottocento, privilegiando il romanzo come luogo in cui vengono rappresentate, e intrecciate, alcune delle più vive questioni non solo della storia ma anche della cultura americana dell'epoca: dall'incontro tra bianchi e indiani all'eredità del puritanesimo, dallo schiavismo al ruolo della donna nella società.
"The novel facing America." The course focuses on American narrative in the first half of the nineteenth century, as it is the novel where some of the most crucial questions concerning American history and culture are portrayed: from the meetings of white men and native Americans, to the Puritan legacy; from slavery to the role of women in society.
