Prerequisites:
To be admitted to the exam students must have successfully completed French Language I and French Culture I.
Educational goals:
To provide a framework of French culture at the end of the ninetheenth century and during the twentieth century using a thematic approach based on literary texts.
Course contents:
"The discreet charm of horror". The course intends to investigate the charm of mistery and terror that has always been expressed in science fiction, gothic novels and surrealism, with particular regard to the work of Jules Verne and Julien Gracq, and including a more significant interpretation of this tendency between the end of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
