Prerequisites:
A knowledge of French sufficient for texts to be read in the original language. Passes in the exam in French Language I.
Educational goals:
The course aims to provide an adequate historical and cultural overview of French literature in the 19th century with particular reference to the Symbolistic poetry and to the historical novel.
Course contents:
Two modern voices: Hugo and Rimbaud.Through the study of two important authors of the century the course will address the relations between religion and science, tradition and transgression, suburbs life and urban life, reality and imagination.
