Inquadrare l'opera giovanile di Goethe, riferendo "I dolori del giovane Werther", testo principe della corrente dello Sturm und Drang (1774) al clima culturale della seconda metà del Settecento tedesco e al movimento del Pietismo.
To interpret Goethe's early oeuvre by relying on "The Sorrows of Young Werther" (1974), a milestone of the "Sturm und Drang" literary trend, while understanding it within both the culture of German late XVIIIth Century and Pietism.

Il corso presenta la prima grande opera in prosa di Johann Wolfgang Goethe nella cornice del passaggio dalla cultura della Empfindsamkeit allo Sturm und Drang della seconda metà del Settecento. Il corso prende in esame il "Werther" collegandolo alla crisi del soggetto e al rapporto con arte e natura.
The course deals with Johann Wolfgang Goethe's first main narrative work by the turn of German culture from Empfindsamkeit to Sturm und Drang during the late XVIIIth Century. The course takes into analsys "The Sorrows of Young Werther" connecting it with the crisis of subject and its relationship with art and nature.

La verifica si indirizza a valutare la capacità di inquadrare le correnti della letteratura tedesca del secondo Settecento e di definire il ruolo culturale svolto dall'opera del giovane Goethe.
The exam aims to evaluate the capability of framing German literary trends of the XVIIIth Century by referring to the central role played by Goethe's early works in their definition and development.

Nel terzo sottoperiodo il Prof. Gerhard Lauer, docente presso la sede partner di Göttingen e ospite presso la nostra sede, tiene un seminario di sei ore in lingua tedesca dedicato al Werther.
During the course a six hours seminar on "Werther" will be held in German by Prof. Gerhard Lauer (Univerity of Göttingen) within the ERASMUS Teachers Exchange Programme.
