Prerequisites:
A basic module in Germanic Philology (1A or 2A).
Educational goals:
Through a study of the characteristics of magical language, the student will acquire the ability to analyse texts in the original language and to interpret their specific features.
Course contents:
Magic texts in the High German Middle Ages. Reading and philological and linguistic comment on magic rituals and incantations from the Germanic tradition in English and Old German (the texts are contained in the volumes indicated in the bibliography).
