Esaminare il discorso letterario come espressione privilegiata dell?immaginario moderno e contemporaneo. Osservare le dinamiche storiche che decretano il successo o la marginalitą delle forme culturali.
To examine literary speech as a privileged expression of modern and contemporary imagination. To observe the historical dynamics that decree the success or marginality of cultural forms.
Contenuto del corso:
Course contents:
Il corso si propone di ripercorrere, attraverso l?analisi di testi di diversa tipologia, alcune fasi salienti della storia culturale britannica, a partire dalla fine dell?Ottocento e fino all?epoca postmoderna. Si presterą particolare attenzione alla produzione letteraria di matrice fantascientifica e ai presupposti dell?educazione allo sguardo nell?ottica dei Media Studies.
By analysing texts of different types, the course aims to consider some of the salient phases of British cultural history, starting from the end of the nineteenth century up to the post-modern era. Particular attention will be given to literary works of the science-fiction genre and the requirements for learning ways of seeing in the context of Media Studies.

In sede d?esame verrą verificata prioritariamente la comprensione dei testi in lingua inglese. E' vivamente consigliato di sostenere l'esame di Letteratura inglese moderna e contemporanea B unitamente a quello di Letteratura inglese moderna e contemporanea A; in ogni caso gli studenti dovranno aver completato l'esame sul Modulo A prima di sostenere quello sul Modulo B. Eventuali ulteriori informazioni saranno fornite in bacheca elettronica.
The exam will mainly check the students' understanding of the texts in English. Students are strongly advised to take the Modern and Contemporary English Literature B exam together with Modern and Contemporary English Literature A. Students must have taken the Module A exam before Module B. Any further information will be provided on the electronic noticeboard.
