Standards of form and visions of order: introduzione alla critica angloamericana 1850-1950. Il coro si propone di tracciare lo sviluppo storico e teorico della corrente critica inaugurata da Matthew Arnold, sostenuta da F.R.Leavis e fatta propria da T.S.Eliot e dal New Criticism americano nelle sue diverse ramificazioni. La discussione di brani di critica letteraria sarà introdotta e sostenuta dall'analisi esemplificativa di componenti poetici.
Standards of form and visions of order: introduction to Anglo-American criticism 1850-1950. The course aims to trace the historical and theoretical development of the vein of criticism initiated by Matthew Arnold, supported by F.R.Leavis and fully embraced by T.S.Eliot and the American New Criticism in its various branches. Discussion of passages of literary criticism will be introduced and supported by example-forming analyses of poetry extracts.
