To provide students with a basic grounding in languages; thereafter the course will concentrate on the knowledge essential for the analysis of human language and languages around the world.

Course contents:		 Caratteristiche costitutive del linguaggio umano. Nozioni di fonetica e fonologia. Morfologia e sintassi. Elementi di semantica e di pragmatica. La classificazione delle lingue.
The characteristic elements of human language. Phonetic and phonological ideas. Morphology and syntax. Elements of semantics and pragmatics. The classification of languages.
