Il corso si propone di esaminare il ruolo strategico dell'impero nell'elaborazione della cultura britannica 'metropolitana' contemporanea. Saranno forniti altresì strumenti metodologici per l'analisi dei testi narrativi.
"Escapes: Authority and the Culture of Entertainment in 19th-century Britain". Investigation of trends in the culture industry in the nineteenth century, highlighting the conceptual foundations and modes of production and showing the inherent tension in its rationale of 'entertainment'.

E' vivamente consigliato di sostenere l'esame sul Modulo A unitamente a quello sul Modulo B.
The course will take place in the third sub-period (February-March) and the introduction to the course will be in February. It is strongly adivsed that students take the exam for Module A together with as that for module B.
