Contenuto del corso:
Course contents:		 (CURRICULA ANTROPOLOGICO-CULTURALE E LINGUISTICO) Il corso si prefigge di illustrare lo sviluppo della lingua inglese dall'Old English al Present Day English tramite la lettura, traduzione e commento di testi affrontati in classe. Questi ultimi saranno raccolti in una dispensa disponibile presso la Celsb. (CURRICULUM IN TURISMO CULTURALE) Il corso si prefigge di illustrare le caratteristiche principali della lingua inglese usata in contesti specialistici attraverso l'analisi e il commento di diverse tipologie di testi. I testi affrontati in classe saranno raccolti in una dispensa disponibile presso la Celsb. (LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL-ANTHROPOLOGICAL CURRICULA) The course will illustrate the development of English from Old English to Present Day English by reading, translating and discussing the texts dealt with in classes. These texts will be collected in a booklet available at CELSB bookshop. (CULTURAL TOURISM CURRICULUM) The course willl illustrate the main characteristics of English used in specialised contexts by analysing and discussing different types of texts. Other information:		 Prova orale: conversazione su un argomento di cultura inglese, che prenderą spunto da venti articoli a scelta, della lunghezza di almeno cinquecento parole, pubblicati negli ultimi dodici mesi su: Newsweek, Time, National Geographic, Life, The New York Review of Books, Herald Tribune, Nature, The Economist, The London Illustrated News, The Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times e The Times Educational Supplement. Colloquio in lingua inglese sui temi affrontati nell'ambito del corso ufficiale. Esercitazioni (per coloro che sono sprovvisti di certificazione CAE o CPE). Al fine di consolidare le basi sintattiche e lessicali acquisite precedentemente, sono previste attivitą di esercitazione volte a migliorare l'uso della lingua specialmente nella sua funzione comunicativa. Particolare attenzione sarą data alle varianti d'uso, con l?obiettivo di sviluppare capacitą di analisi testuale, comprensione avanzata della lingua in contesto, traduzione e scrittura di testi basati su diversi registri linguistici. Testo di riferimento per le esercitazioni: L.G.Alexander, Longman Advanced Grammar, Longman. Materiali per esercitazioni e approfondimenti saranno disponibili in Centro Stampa.
Oral exam: conversation on a topic of English Culture, starting from 20 articles chosen by the student, at least 500 words each, published in the last twelve months in: Newsweek, Time, National Geographic, Life, The New York Review of Books, Herald Tribune, Nature, The Economist, The London Illustrated News, The Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times e The Times Educational Supplement. Interview in English on the topics dealt with in the classes. Applied activities (for those who do not have CAE or CPE certicates). In order to strenghten previously acquired knowledge of syntax and vocabulary, applied activities will be organised to improve students' communication abilities. Particular attention will be paid to the different varieties and usage of English. The course will focus on textual analysis, advanced comprehension of English in specific contexts, translation and writing of texts in different registers. Text for exercises: M. Gotti & J.
